Fuel for School, which provides food and education for thousands of Yorkshire children is saddling up to be part of the Tour de Yorkshire.
Fuel for School, and partners, will be leading the peloton in the forthcoming Tour de Yorkshire promotional caravan along the routes of the four-day race.
Starting in Beverley on Thursday 3rd May the team from Fuel for School will join the official promotional caravan until it’s culmination in Leeds City Centre on Sunday.
A bright yellow school bus will entertain the crowds with free fruit, snacks and stickers to show how Fuel for School remove hunger as a barrier to learning whist making use of surplus food and in doing so reducing food waste.
Fuel for School is delivered to school by The Real Junk Food Project and currently supplies 55 schools across Yorkshire with weekly deliveries of food. In addition to this a comprehensive education programme, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, is made available to the schools with the ambitious aim of providing nourishment for life, health canada pharmacy, growth and good health.

The four days will provide us will a great opportunity to engage with millions of people form across Yorkshire and beyond who have made it to the roadside – it’s about promoting how we can all remove hunger as a barrier to learning and reduce food waste.”
Official Vehicle Launch
The publicity vehicle will be launched officially at The Light Leeds on Wednesday 2nd May at 11.00am. Press are invited to attend and meet the team, including the official Mascot Fred the Fox.
At the launch above, The Light Leeds will be presenting vouchers to the winner of a city-wide competition held in partnership with Fuel for School and The Light Leeds to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire. The vouchers will be exchanged for a bike in recognition for entries into an art competition where children were encouraged to “Put your school in the spotlight! Illustrate something amazing, special or unique about your school.”
